Home/Liposuction/Whole Body Liposuction

Whole body liposuction does not mean every region in one operation. It means your shape is assessed and planned as a whole, then treated in the order and the number of sessions that keeps you safe.

The distinction matters because risk does not stay flat as you add areas. It rises with the total volume removed and with the number of regions treated in one sitting. A clinic that agrees to eight areas at once without discussing that has told you how it makes decisions.

What is whole body liposuction?

Whole body liposuction is a plan rather than a single operation. Several regions are assessed together, then treated in the order and the number of sessions that keeps the total volume safe.

It is not every area in one sitting, and a clinic that offers it that way is describing a sales package rather than a surgical plan.

What does whole body liposuction actually include?

It is a plan rather than a fixed package. Most whole body plans here combine the trunk with the limbs, because the silhouette is created by how regions transition into each other rather than by any single area.

  • Trunk: abdomen, waist and flanks, back and bra line.
  • Arms, treated 270 degrees through one hidden cut in the armpit.
  • Thighs, treated as one line from hip to knee, with the knee included.
  • Calves and ankles, where fat rather than muscle is the cause.

Which of those you actually need is decided from photographs and then confirmed in person. It is common for the final plan to be smaller than the request.

Am I a good candidate for whole body liposuction?

  • Several regions bother you, not one.
  • You can pinch the fat in each of them.
  • Your weight has been stable for a few months.
  • Your skin still retracts when you release the pinch.
  • You are in general good health, with any medical condition controlled.
  • You can give the trip about ten days rather than five.

If your goal is a number on a scale, this is the wrong operation. Liposuction shapes; it does not treat weight. The safe volume in one session does not produce a dramatic change on a scale, and a clinic promising one is not describing surgery honestly.

How many areas can be treated in one session?

There is no single number, and any clinic quoting one without seeing you is guessing. The limit is set by total volume, your body size, your health, and how long you would be under anesthesia.

A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal reports that risk rises with the volume removed and with the number of areas treated in one sitting. A review in the same journal on optimising liposuction outcomes places the same weight on patient selection and planning as on technique.

In practice a trunk plan often goes in one session. Adding arms or a full leg plan on top is where we start proposing two stages instead.

Why would you stage it over two sessions?

  • Total volume stays inside a safe range in each sitting.
  • Time under anesthesia stays shorter.
  • Swelling is spread across two recoveries rather than stacked into one.
  • The second stage can be adjusted after seeing how the first settled.

The last point is the one patients underrate. Once the first regions have settled, the plan for the rest is drawn against a real result rather than a prediction.

Staging is usually two visits a few months apart. Some patients stage within one trip where the volumes are modest, and that is decided at the in-person assessment.

How is a whole body plan performed?

You are marked standing, region by region, and the plan agreed from your photographs is checked against your anatomy. Anesthesia is sedation or general depending on the extent, managed throughout by a full-time anesthesiology specialist under a JCI-accredited protocol.

Each region is filled with a fluid that numbs the tissue and constricts small vessels. Fat is removed through incisions of three to five millimetres placed in creases and hidden folds. The long cannula developed by Dr. Jaeho Cho, up to 100cm, lets a large region be reached from one or two entry points.

We suction the middle fat layer selectively so the cell-rich portion survives. The fat goes to our Cell Matrix Lab, the stem cell fraction is separated in about 45 minutes, and it is returned to the treated areas before you leave the operating table.

One of the two directors performs the whole operation. On a multi-region plan that is not a small commitment, and it is the reason we limit how many cases run in a day.

How long is recovery after a multi-region plan?

  • Day 1 - you get up and walk, in compression.
  • Day 3 to 4 - bruising peaks across every treated region at once.
  • Day 7 - sutures out.
  • Week 2 to 4 - swelling is heavier and lasts longer than after a single region.
  • Month 2 - the contour becomes readable.
  • Month 4 to 6 - judged final, with photograph follow-up for 12 months.

Recovery from several regions is not the sum of several recoveries, but it is meaningfully harder than one. Plan about ten days in Seoul, and expect to be slower than you think for the first fortnight.

What results can I expect?

A proportion change rather than a smaller version of the same shape. That is the actual argument for treating regions together: the transitions between them are planned rather than left to chance.

Fat cells removed do not return. The cells that remain still enlarge with weight gain, across the whole body, so the result holds when your weight does.

What aftercare is included?

  • Compression worn full-time for three days, then as advised, for each stage.
  • Two aftercare sessions per stage at the clinic.
  • Suture removal on day seven, or instructions for removal at home.
  • Photograph follow-up read by the operating director for twelve months.

What are the risks, and how do we reduce them?

This is the plan where volume matters most. Bruising, prolonged swelling, temporary numbness and contour irregularity are common and temporary. Bleeding, infection, fluid collections and clot-related events are uncommon, and their likelihood tracks the extent of surgery.

  • Volume limits respected, and surgery staged when the plan would exceed them.
  • Blood work and an ECG beforehand, with surgery postponed if a result says so.
  • A full-time anesthesiology specialist monitoring you for the whole case.
  • Code blue protocol, SD autologous transfusion system for larger volumes.
  • Transfer agreements with Gangnam Severance, Seoul St. Mary's and Kyung Hee University Hospital.

Whole body at once, or one region at a time?

If several regions are out of proportion with each other, planning them together produces a better silhouette than treating them years apart. If one region dominates your complaint, treat that one properly and see how the rest of you reads afterwards.

We will tell you which situation you are in from your photographs, and the answer is a single region more often than patients expect.

What do whole body liposuction results look like?

Cases from our own archive, photographed in the clinic and published with written consent. Each caption says how long after surgery the photo was taken.

Whole Body Liposuction in Gangnam: more questions

Sometimes, and often not. The limit is total volume and time under anesthesia rather than how many names are on the list, so a large plan is usually staged over two sessions for safety.

About ten days for a single staged session, rather than the week a single region needs. Swelling is heavier and flying is more comfortable with a few extra days.

No. It changes proportion, not weight. The volume that can be removed safely in one session does not correspond to a dramatic change on a scale.

Fat does not relocate. The cells that remain anywhere on your body enlarge if you gain weight, which can make untreated areas more noticeable relative to treated ones.

Yes, and it is common. Fat removed from one region can be processed and grafted to the hips or elsewhere in the same session, which is where the stem cell step matters most.

It is worth it when several regions are out of proportion with one another and you want them planned as one shape. It is not worth it as a substitute for weight management.

That is not a claim worth trusting. Ask how the clinic decides what to stage and what to combine, and whether one surgeon performs every region, because a multi-region plan is where delegation is hardest to see.

Seoyeon K.1 month ago · Thigh + arm liposuction, hip grafting

★★★★★

I had been stressed about my thighs and arms for years and looked at several clinics before I found TheLINE. At the consultation the director explained everything against my own body shape, which is what won my trust, so I went ahead with thigh liposuction, arm liposuction and hip dip fat grafting.
Yeon L.2 months ago · Arm liposuction

★★★★★

I came in about my arm line and went ahead after the consultation. The consultation was thorough and the clinic was spotless, so I trusted them. One month in, the arm line is clearly cleaner, the swelling and bruising have gone down a lot, and daily life is barely affected.

Translated from Korean. Individual experiences; results differ from person to person.
