Arm liposuction fails most often for one reason: fat is removed from the back of the arm only. The result looks correct when the arm hangs and wrong the moment it is raised, because the untreated fold near the armpit stays put. Our standard plan covers 270 degrees of the upper arm, from the armpit fold to just above the elbow.
The operation takes about two hours under sedation. One small cut inside the armpit covers the whole area, because the cannula is long enough to reach from there, so nothing shows on the outer arm.
What is arm liposuction?
Arm liposuction removes the subcutaneous fat layer of the upper arm through a small cut hidden inside the armpit. It treats the back of the arm, the inner arm and the fold that sits over the bra line.
It is a shaping operation rather than a weight treatment. It removes fat you can pinch, and it does not tighten skin that has lost its elasticity or reduce the muscle underneath.
Who does the best arm liposuction in Gangnam?
- 270 degrees as standard, so the arm reads correctly raised as well as lowered
- The armpit fold that spills over a bra strap is treated in the same session
- One hidden incision inside the armpit rather than several on the arm itself
- Your own stem cells go back into the treated layer, which in our practice shortens the bruising on an area that is hard to hide
Am I a good candidate for arm liposuction?
Your arms carry fat out of proportion to the rest of your body, the fat is soft rather than firmly muscular, and the skin still springs back when pinched. Patients in their twenties and thirties usually get a clean result from suction alone.
Where skin has lost elasticity after weight loss or with age, suction alone will leave a hanging contour. In that case an arm lift, staged after or combined with suction, is the honest plan and we will show you where the crease would sit.
Which areas does arm liposuction treat?
- Back of the upper arm, where the fat pad is visible from behind
- Outer and inner upper arm, so the measurement is even
- Armpit fold and the roll in front of the armpit
- The area just above the elbow, where an untreated fat pad creates a step
- Optional: the fat pad behind the armpit that shows in sleeveless tops

How is arm liposuction performed?
01. Standing marking
Arms are marked hanging and raised, because the fold only appears in one of those positions.
02. Sedation
Triple low-dose sedation under continuous monitoring by an anesthesiology specialist.
03. Armpit access
A 3 to 5mm incision is made inside the armpit, where the scar sits in a natural crease.
04. All-the-way-around suction
The middle layer is suctioned across 270 degrees, with the contour checked between passes.
05. Stem cells and closure
The stem cells go back into the treated layer and the incision is sutured.
How long is recovery after arm liposuction?
| Time after surgery | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Day 1 to 3 | Compression sleeve full-time; raising the arms overhead feels tight |
| Day 4 to 7 | Desk work and driving resumed; sutures out on day 7 |
| Week 2 to 4 | Bruising fades, sleeves fit differently |
| Month 2 to 3 | Swelling around the elbow settles last |
| Month 3 to 4 | Final arm line assessed |
What results can I expect from arm liposuction?
The fat cells are gone for good, so most patients see the change in fitted sleeves within three weeks and in photos by month two. The goal is one smooth line from shoulder to elbow, not the largest possible amount of fat. Arms that had too much taken out look hollow when raised, and that is the one arm problem which is hard to fix.

What aftercare do I need after arm liposuction?
- Compression sleeve full-time for three days, then daytime wear for four to six weeks
- Avoid overhead lifting for two weeks; walking and light cardio from day two
- Two aftercare sessions included, with lymphatic care available for stubborn swelling
- Sleep with the arms supported on a pillow for the first week to limit morning swelling
What are the risks of arm liposuction, and how do we reduce them?
Arm skin is thin, so irregularity and asymmetry show more readily than on the torso. Bleeding, inflammation, infection, prolonged swelling, temporary numbness near the elbow and contour irregularity are all possible.
- Suction is kept in the middle layer, away from the superficial plane where irregularity forms
- Both arms are compared repeatedly during surgery rather than treated in sequence and checked at the end
- Anesthesia is managed by a specialist with real-time monitoring
- Where skin quality predicts a poor result, we recommend a lift instead of over-suctioning
Arm liposuction or an arm lift - which one do I need?
| Arm liposuction | Arm lift | Injection or device | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Treats | Arm fat | Skin and fat | Small fat pockets |
| Scar | 3 to 5mm in the armpit | Along the inner arm | None |
| Anesthesia | Sedation | Sedation or general | Local or none |
| Downtime | 5 to 7 days | 1 to 2 weeks | Same day |
| Best for | Good skin elasticity | Loose or hanging skin | Very small volumes |
What do arm liposuction results look like?
Cases from our own archive, photographed in the clinic and published with written consent. Each caption says how long after surgery the photo was taken.

Outcomes differ from person to person, and side effects such as inflammation, bleeding and infection are possible. These are individual patients, not averages.
Arm Liposuction in Apgujeong: more questions
The incision is three to five millimeters and sits inside a natural armpit crease. Sutures come out on day seven and the mark typically fades to a fine line over six to twelve months. It is not visible with the arm down.
If the fullness is fat with reasonable skin tone, yes. If the tissue hangs when your arm is raised because the skin itself has stretched, suction alone will make it hang more and an arm lift is the correct operation.
Walking and light cardio from day two, lower body training from week two, and upper body or overhead work from week four. Compression is worn during exercise for the first month.
Yes. Arms combine comfortably with a double chin or bra line case. Combining arms with a full 360 plan is possible but we usually stage it so total operating time and volume stay within safe limits.
Weight loss shrinks fat everywhere except where genetics put it, which is usually the back of the arm. If your arms stay heavy at a stable weight, suction is the tool that changes the proportion. If your weight is still moving, wait until it settles.
No clinic can honestly claim that, including ours. Compare three things instead. Does the surgeon treat 270 degrees or only the back of the arm? Does the cut sit inside the armpit? How many arm cases has that individual surgeon done?
